Wein & Wachau reviews
Visited this little town on the way to Melk Abbey. Very quiet and sleepy during winter but it was nice to take a stroll around town and admire the architecture there. more »
Really cozy town with nice monastery situated high. Lots of lovely restaurants and cafes. We enjoyed a beer on the square while an orchestra in beautiful costumes played good music. more »
A must see if you are anywhere close. We took a guided tour of this abbey and was astounded with the over the top opulence of the abbey and church. The beauty of the art work and decorative features are really impossible to put into words. Just go, you will not be disappointed. The attached gardens are quite impressive also.
Very impressive. We had a one hour tour through Melk Abbey. In one of twelve rooms of the library they stored approximately 9,000 books. The highlight was the church at the end of the tour. We would be happy to visit it in the future again but then we would try to spend more than 1,5 hours.
