A 400-year-old mesquite, Tree Of Life remains the only vegetation in a remote desert landscape. Reaching a height of 9.75 m (32 ft), the tree is specially adapted to retain water from the harsh arid conditions, yet is the only of its kind in the area, leading many to turn to myth and religion as to its survival. I am glad I did not have to pay to see this site. The tree was covered in graffiti, there was trash in the boughs on the ground and human defecation in the sand around the tree. All while someone... more »
Good one day drive far from city. Near by places have dabab to drive etc. to enjoy even camps. Better visit at day time since near by there is no city only Gas pipelines. I placed my hands on tree and really nice. May be tree is able to absorb moisture from air. The place is not maintained properly by the authorities. It could have been developed more for tourists.
This lonely tree is way out in the middle of the desert and it is amazing to imagine how it has thrived for so long in such a desolate spot. Obviously it’s situated near an underground water source. But it’s estimated to be about 500 years old, and it’s a beautiful thing standing there ruling overturning the desert. The day we were there we saw camel prints in the sand, so I could just imagine what wild camels must have looked like seeking the shade this massive tree offers. Please don’t miss this sight, the drive alone is interesting.
