Mount Edith Cavell, Jasper National Park

#8 of 20 in Nature in Jasper National Park
Geologic Formation · Hidden Gem · Mountain
Hike up and around Mount Edith Cavell, a 3,300 m (10,827 ft) peak towering over river valleys. You'll have access to three different climbing routes of varying difficulties, including the famous, and particularly challenging, North Face route--deemed by experts as one of the best climbs on the continent. Other trails lead you through meadows of alpine flowers, offering views of a glacier and moraines. Remember to respect the very delicate ecosystem at this high elevation: tread on marked trails only and do not touch the vegetation. Drive along the historical Highway 93A, following the river, then the Cavell Road through 14 km (8.7 mi) of subalpine forest to reach the slopes.
