  • It´s a paid attraction and it´s a guided tour with access to the museum of Canada´s history. Take some time to go around and not such a cold weather as I faced on April! Very good people working there...  more »

  • Wish they were more clear on when tours go out - truly at their whim. Tour mostly on involvment in WWI not about the fort itself and how it was built and/or used.  more »

  • Do not leave Quebec City without visiting the Citadel and taking a guided tour. Put this on your list of top 3 things to do here. Historically and currently significant and visually beautiful. Recommend going at 9 AM when it opens to take the first guided tour of the day and beat the crowd. Tour is 1 hour long. Ends just in time for the elaborate daily changing of the guard ceremony at 10 AM. Then go to their excellent museum and spend time there. Learn and reflect.
  • Took the tour at the citadel and was super interesting to have the history explained by our guide. It was fun for the kids as they got to see and hear the history. We had a great view as well of the Chateau Frontenac as well from one of the spots on the tour. The group wasn’t too big as well so it was perfect to be close enough to hear all the explanations. Parking at the place was free as well. The museum inside was great as well as we got to see a lot of artefacts. Definitely a great spot to go with kids.
  • We loved learning about the citadel. Be careful in the jail my 6 yr old son ran right into a lock that was sticking out of the wall and hit his eye and got a black eye because it is so dark he was walking along side me. They were so helpful and gave him ice And a popsicle!! The tour guide was knowledgeable and quite comical and that is hard when English is not your first language. This was so interesting to learn about and we loved watching the changing of the guards that happens daily at 10am and is about an hour if I remember right. The goat is the best part. This is a must see and a tour of the Chateau which is available, apparently it is rumored that they stopped doing it but we went in the chateau tour and it was amazing!!
  • Got to see this place on a nice day, great views and cool history. Though you don't really get to see much of the buildings without paying for a private tour. The general tour basically gets you access to the large inside area where they hold ceremonies at specific times of the year. Overall the tour was good, and the guide spoke both English and French. His English was very good, and he was a very knowledgeable not only about the Citadel but other parts of Canada too! There is also a beautiful view off one of the cannon sites that makes for a great photo spot.
  • Interesting fort with a very interesting history. Get there early to see the changing on the guard, colorful and fun changing of the guard. Loved the Royal goat. Also the only way to walk around the citadel is through the official tours, which are very well conducted. Highly recommended both the tours and the citadel as a half day activity for Quebec City.
