  • This area is absolutely adorable! The murals on the building walls (especially the most famous one) was a site to be seen. We ate here and walked around quite a bit. To see such a quaint town replicated from what would be in France here in North America was truly astounding. It really gives you a comforted feeling.
  • Even though it has been turned into a real tourist trap, the Quartier Petit Champlain is still a piece of Quebec and North American history and an interesting place to visit. Added bonus: during the winter, it becomes a real-life winter wonder land!
  • Beautiful buildings in a historic setting loaded with unique shops and completed by European charm. Shopkeepers are respectful and sweet to non French speaking visitors. Be watchful for the steep cobblestone walkways and stairs.
  • We visited during Christmas time and this little square was the paragon of all things Christmas. It was surreal and felt absolutely magical as we were standing there while snow was gently falling. Hope to come back here every Christmas.
  • So many cute shops! The atmosphere was great. Tonnes of talented buskers. The scenery of the entire place was also very cute. The shops sold really interesting things and there was a place to sit and relax too with some swing benches after hours of walking.

Where to stay in Quebec City

Most accommodations cluster on the west side of the St. Lawrence River, with the city's split-level old town offering the widest range of options and best access to top attractions. Stay in the upper town to be close to the castle and enjoy views over the river. What the lower town lacks in panoramas, it makes up for in historic charm and access to riverside cafes and restaurants. If you want a less-touristy experience, consider the up-and-coming neighborhood of St. Roch, whose cafes, bars, restaurants, and artistic spaces make it an alternative traveler's paradise.
