St Martins Sea Caves, St. Martins

#2 of 7 in Things to do in St. Martins
Geologic Formation · Nature / Park
Traverse the ocean floor to St Martins Sea Caves, where you can explore the caves that remain underwater for half a day. Timing of your visit is important, because the tide rises and falls about every six hours in the Bay of Fundy. During high tide, the caves and the paths to them are submerged, but when low tide hits, the pathways reappear and allow adventurous visitors to experience something truly uniqe. Explore inside the red cliffs to look for fish, coral, and erosion marks on the walls. Be sure to wear water shoes to protect your feet from the rocky ground. Inspirock's itinerary builder makes planning a St. Martins trip simple and quick.

  • What a beautiful natural caves sculpture. We must be here at low tide so we can get closer to the caves. The shoreline in front of the caves are interesting to with all the different colourful rocks.  more »
  • A beautiful place. Make sure to get here close to low tide so that you can reach and enter the caves. Dress and use footwear appropriate for walking through a shallow stream. The beach is rocky. Cruise ships that make a port stop at Saint John offer bus trips here.
  • It was an easy walk to the ocean floor, and absolutely breathtaking views literally took my breath away. We sat at one of the near by eateries, and enjoyed a bowl of seafood chowder as well as some other local specialty items. We noticed others had their dogs at their sides, and children were safely at play under the watchful eye of their parents. We loved our experience and would definitely return as St . Martins was the town you'd imagine nestled among the rocks of the Bay of Fundy.
