The Moravian Karst is a karst landscape and protected nature reserve to the north of Brno in the eastern part of the Czech Republic, located near the town of Blansko. It encompasses a number of notable geological features, including roughly 1100 caverns and gorges and covers an area of roughly 92 km². Currently, five of the cave systems, Býčí skála Cave and Stránská skála are open for public tours and exploration.This region is also home to one of the most important single geological features in the Czech Republic, the Macocha Abyss, a gorge 138 m deep, which was formed when the ceiling of an underground cave chamber collapsed. Macocha Abyss is also the place where the Punkva River begins to run underground through the Punkva cave system, and two small pools of water are visible at the surface.The Moravian Karst is a popular tourist attraction in the local area, and large numbers of tourists visit in the summer months. In addition to caverns, the nature preserve also contains well-marked bicycle trails and hiking paths to explore.

These caves appear straight out of Lord of the Rings movie. In fact its true that the caves in the movie are inspired from Moravian Karst. There are a number of caves - dont remember the names exactly... more »

The tour starts in a Valley, with a large car park and visitor centre is located in the Brasserie, a restaurant. On foot or by train (the tours) you can reach the indulóponthoz. You may want to choose the tour, because it is very beautiful in the forest. What's in the fall. You might want to pay attention to the date of departure, since 3 km on the way up. 40 minutes easy walking distance. The indulóközpontban has no bar, only automatic, souvenir, WC. The Punkva cave itself is beautiful. The first half of the cave of the tűra through the Machocha-we szakadékig. The gap is breathtakingly beautiful. Then a cave River eredkedtünk, with hajóztunk electric-powered boats out to the surface, return to the starting point. The tour is about. 1.5 hours and varied, not snippy. Especially for those who like that sort of thing.

A spontaneous trip to Moravian Karst was a great choice even in this cold period. Punkva caves are beautiful. Tour (180kč) amazing, including cruises on the pumps. On the tour we were waiting, but we got with and without reservation.
