Bouzov Castle is an early 14th-century fortress first mentioned in 1317. It was built on a hill between the village of Hvozdek and the town of Bouzov, 21km west of Litovel and 28km northwest of Olomouc, in Moravia, Czech Republic. The castle has been used in a number of film productions lately, including Arabela, Fantaghirò, and Before the Fall.HistoryOwnersBouzov was established at the turn of the 14th century with the purpose to watch over the trade route from Olomouc to Loštice. The minor aristocratic Bůz of Bludovec family were its first recorded owners from 1317 to 1339. The castle also takes its name from the family. Ownership of the castles was then changed, and the Lords of Kunštát were among the most important medieval owners. According to tradition, the Bouzov castle is often connected with name of the most famous member of this noble dynasty, Jiří z Poděbrady was born in Bouzov in 1420 and was crowned Czech King in 1458. His original title was Jiří of Kunštát and Bouzov. In 1558 the castle burned down, and lost much of its majestic quality. In the course of centuries there were several changes of proprietors; the castle was owned by the lords of Vildenberk, margrave Jošt, the Haugvic and the Pod Štatský families, and in 1696 the barony was bought by the grand master of the Teutonic Order, the Rhenish palsgrave Fanciscus Ludovicus.Put Bouzov Castle at the forefront of your travel plans using our Bouzov trip itinerary website .

Bouzov Castle Reviews
Pre mňa jeden z najkrajších hradov aký som kedy navštívil. Má moderný vzhľad ale vnútri určite očarí. Všetko upravené, pekné nádvorie a pred hradom pekný park ako stvorený na prechádzky. Návštevu urči... more »For me one of the most beautiful castles I have ever visited. It has a modern appearance, but the inside will definitely charm you. Everything prepared, nice courtyard and castle park before pretty cut out for walks. Visit more and I recommend a visit to the historic area as well where there is a large wooden Trojan horse with an accompanying program.
Hrad je kouzelný už při příjezdu. Opravdu krásný, stojí za návštěvu. Jen nám vadí, ale to se týká skoro již všech hradů a zámků ty okruhy. Když chcete vidět celý hrad, s celou rodinou, není to zrovna ... more »The castle is a magical upon arrival. A truly beautiful, well worth a visit. Only bothers us, but it covers nearly all the castles and palaces of those circuits. If you want to see the whole Castle, with the whole family, it's not exactly cheap. And most of it isn't even in one visit.
Na výběr několik prohlídkových okruhů, všude se může fotit, historie hradu zajímavá, prostě pohádka :) more »On the selection of dishware, anywhere I can take pictures, history of the Castle, just a fairy tale:)
This is one of the most beautiful castles in Czech. It has breathtaking views and an incredible interior. I highly recommend visiting this place. There are also some amazing caves nearby. Perfect for a whole day trip.
Really nice and romantic castle just. It is not to big, but it is well preserve.High tower, wooden bridges, nice halls and wooden decorated interiors. Worth seeing!
Beautiful castle nearest Olomouc. Under castle are restaurants and pubs. U can find some wild animal in garden before entry.
Beautiful place. Cold inside in March.
One of the most beautiful and the most preserved castle in Moravia. Many objects to see. If I could I would stay much longer then 3 hours.
