Cathedral of St. Peter and St. Paul, Brno

#1 of 278 in Things to do in Moravia
Climb to the top of the bell towers of Cathedral of St. Peter and St. Paul, which always ring at 11 a.m. rather than noon as a nod to a tale of subterfuge during the Thirty Years' War. Stone balconies that are nearly 84 m (276 ft) high offer views over the city. The cathedral was erected on the site of a much earlier Romanesque chapel in 1777. Its Neo-Gothic facade is the work of 20th-century architect August Kirstein. Look for a quotation from Matthew's gospel written above the main entrance, which invites all hardworking people to find peace inside the church. The Baroque interior is complemented with high ceilings and stained-glass windows. The cathedral also features a medieval crypt. Impressive and well maintained. Overlooking the city with a beautiful view from the top. To visit if you go to Brno. Gothic and mysterious.

It does not very much for. Nevertheless, it is an impressive cathedral. A nice climb to above provides a nice view of. Not too difficult climb and also no long.

The exterior of the cathedral is amazing, the inside perhaps a little less so. It's definitely worth going up to the top to get beautiful views over the city but the tiny side entrance for this means it's easily missed! Costs little over £1 to see the treasury (couple of small rooms with some items belonging to the cathedral) then walk up the stairs to the bell towers and balconies. Best at sunset in my opinion : )

Cathedral that is the symbol of the city. If will be approaching Brno from Bratislava, you can see the Cathedral kilometers away. And if you are lucky, wait for choirs to sing. The acoustic is just humbling. Magical place.

It's beautiful there, at least the view worth it.
