Tazumal, Chalchuapa

#5 of 15 in Things to do in Santa Ana Department
Browse Mayan architecture dating back to the classical period at Tazumal. The archaeological site consists of two pyramids, a ballgame court, and a mound. The main pyramid at the site, known as B1-1, dominates the area. Over a dozen construction stages can be identified for the main pyramid, pointed out by interpretive signs. The second pyramid dates back to the late classic period. Look at the top of the excavated structure to see traves of old walls and columns.
