Take a walk through shared German and European history at Deutsches Historisches Museum. The museum's massive collection includes 500,000 photographic prints, 50,000 military objects, and 170,000 documents (maps, newspapers, flyers, etc.). It also houses at least 100,000 everyday household objects, medical instruments, and religious articles. The building was erected between 1675 and 1730 to display the country's vast arsenal of cannons. It displays everything from prehistory right up to the present day. Because there's so much to see here, you may do best with a guided tour. Use our Berlin trip tool to arrange your visit to Deutsches Historisches Museum and other attractions in Berlin.
Deutsches Historisches Museum reviews
A good museum to learn about German history. You are guided through from early history to later, and there is special exhibits, that are also great if you get the opportunity. more »

Incredibly beautiful and no less incredibly interesting museum. If you are going to visit this museum, set aside more than two hours for it, otherwise even with relatively fast speed you will not have time to go around it all. Many different halls, with more than 8000 exhibits of the main exhibition of the museum, and periodically there are also other specialized exhibitions took place here. Weapons, outfits, armor, paintings, ancient books and manuscripts, old mechanisms and so on. One of the most interesting features of this museum is an interactive historical map, which in 3D shows what Europe looked like at different time periods. How it changed from era to era (the map is on one of the photographs of my review).
Just off Museum Island, its currently covered in scaffolding, but its hiding a great museum. Open and inviting it tells one of the most interesting and important histories of the world. Staff are all friendly. We saw one of the temporary exhibitions and were very impressed with the design, content and impartiality. The museum bookshop is also a very dangerous place for your wallet! In a city teaming with museums this has to be in the top bunch.
