Jewish Museum Berlin, Berlin

3.9
#7 of 168 in Museums in Berlin
Jewish Museum Berlin is one of Europe's largest venues dedicated to Jewish history. A sobering exhibit dedicated to the reign of the Third Reich presents Germany through the eyes of the Jewish minority. Important events in Jewish history are portrayed via fine art, manuscripts, photographs, and family memorabilia. Two millennia of German-Jewish history are on display in the permanent exhibit space, as well as in several changing presentation areas. All of this is spread over two buildings, one of which is designed by architect Daniel Libeskind. The staff can accompany you through the exhibits. Or you can use an audio guide and explore this comprehensive history museum at your own pace. • On a Sunday, we walked to the Jewish museum, a museum I was really looking forward too. My son had visited it twice already and had been impressed. We arrived a bit before noon, when the museum was no...  more »
  • An overview of Jewish life in Germany against the background of the always renewed antisemitism. From the beginnings until today. An interesting journey for anyone who participates in this history of Jewish life in Germany in particular, often imbued with cruelty and persecution. And rarely, a museum transported also architecturally this mood so perfectly. A museum that really more than deserves its place, is exciting and instructive, and just a really good overview. • An interesting museum with an important part of history. My favourite part was the room with the artwork of the faces on the floor - very thought-provoking. Bit pricey to get in but worth it to read a...  more »

  • An amazing experience, the attention to detail, the installations were well done and very moving. Will be better appreciated if you enjoy art and less history. I thought the combination was very moving, not what I expected, and I found myself reflecting on the emotional gravity of the pain and suffering, but left hopefully that we will learn as a global society...never forgetting what was done and healing as best we can.
  • Such a thought provoking place. Made me really appreciate my life and ability to travel. And also made me even more passionate about my belief in acceptance of other fellow humans. Don't let religion and difference divide us, let it unite us ✌
  • Very interesting. A lot to read.. History was in very much detail. A lot of pictures. Explains exactly what happen. Expect to spend at least 2 hours if you will be reading everything. There were also some videos which helped in understanding more detail and what the people had to go through. Shows how horrible situations were back at that time. Makes you feel sorry for the people at that time and appreciate all they did for a better future.
  • The staff at the desk was very rude. They also would not accept my student visa in my passport as proof for a student ticket, wanted to see my school ID, which I didn't have because my wallet had been stolen the day before. The museum itself was small and did not have a lot of exhibits to see. I do not recommend going here- the memorial to the murdered Jews of Europe was much more educational (and nicer).
  • Despite a 30 minutes queue, this is definitely a worth-visiting museum. On the first floor you will get to learn about stories of Jews during the WWII and also experience the dreadful feelings of deportation thanks to the exhibitions of great artists. On the second floor, the Welcome to Jerusalem Exhibit gave lots of insights on the history of the city. Amazing travel.
