  • Museum of great interest. Unfortunately queues are very long. Within the museums focused on the island.

  • We had a small disappointment, because as everyone said, which could not fail to see it if you go to Berlin, then my opinion is that okay, without more, was also closed the altar of Pergamon, which is the main tour. Of course, that you can influence that after seeing the British and the Louvre, is you something short.

  • Houses the Pergamon altar, taken from an ancient Greek Acropolis in Asia minor (now Turkey), built in honor of Zeus, and transported to Berlin. It's a monumental building (despite only being exposed your entry), which calls the attention by the details in high relief, depicting a monumental battle between the Olympian gods and mythological monsters. In addition, the Museum has a collection of artifacts and structures of Greece, Rome, Babylon and Sumer, in addition to a section aimed at Islamic art. I've been in July/2017

  • Beautiful exhibitions integrated into the museum itself. Takes around 1-2 hours without an audio guide. There was also a special offer for entry to all 5 museums on museum island for 10 euros on the day Sunday (not sure if every Sunday but worth checking before you go).
  • An incredible museum filled with ancient artifacts, highlights are the Babylonian Ishtar Gate, Market Gate of Miletus, Aleppo room and much, much more! Book tickets online for allotted slots of 30min entrance time, this will prevent long lines (up to 2hrs!) on weekends or summer. The price is the same online as in person. Tickets included free audio tour headsets in a few languages - which was fantastic for visitors! Plan for 2-3hours for your visit. I loved the high ceilings, exhibition completeness and audio narrative. Will definitely visit again on my next trip!
  • Very impressive display of artifacts! The facade of the gates of Babylon is simply breathtaking. Really worth waiting in line for! The only problem I had was that more than half of the museum was closed off for renovation work, which of course is necessary from time to time, but it was not written anywhere. There were no artifacts from Pergamon on display either, and renovations will continue until 2024!! A bit of a bummer!
  • Mind-blowing. Amazing collection on ancient history. Words can't describe the experience - absolute must! You have to queue for an hour, but it's definitely worth the wait!
  • It's unique in that they transported the entire ruin into the museum, so you can walk around and look at the architecture. I suggest going a hour before the museum closes. Less people and still enough time to visit all the exhibits.

Where to stay in Berlin

The Kreuzberg neighborhood near the Oberbaumbrüke bridge is central and full of Berlin icons: street art, a piece of the Berlin Wall, the East Side Gallery, and a proliferation of cafes. Friedrichshain is another option with a hip vibe due to the students who congregate at its cafes and galleries. Consider Mitte as a historic home base. Mitte is the area where almost all of Berlin's well-known buildings are located, and it is within walking distance of Alexanderplatz. For a peaceful residential area, try Charlottenburg-Wilmersdorf where the streets are lined with boutiques and quiet coffee shops.
