Offering visitors a rare look into the ancient world, Pergamonmuseum attracts nearly 2 million people each year, making it the most-visited museum in Germany. It features an extensive collection of ancient Greek, Middle-Eastern, and Islamic art and architecture. Located on Museum Island in the heart of the city, this site was designed by architect Alfred Messel and built from 1910 to 1930. The museum contains reconstructed monumental buildings from around the world, including the giant Ishtar Gate and the Market Gate of Miletus. Be sure to see the Pergamon Altar, a massive marble shrine after which the museum is named. Save time by booking your tickets online. Pick up a free audio guide at the entrance. This is currently under re-construction so the display is not overly huge but it is impressive. There are a few buildings that will be completed in 2024 so that's when it was recommended to return. more »
A very impressive museum that is unique. The museum opens at 10 so try to get a morning appointment as the tickets are timed for access but you may remain inside as long as you need. You will be awed.... more »
Absolutely worth it, even for just the Ishtar gate alone. If you are in Berlin and have the opportunity to come here, do it. You might want to brush up on your art history first, because there are so many famous and important peices here. This is a very impressive museum.
One of the best museums in Berlin. The experience is really great and fantastic. Here you can find the famous Babilonia's Door. Really good. In the museum island, very easy to reach it with the metro underground. I suggest you this place if you like art.
