The first and only Houdini museum in Europe, The House of Houdini, is located in Houdini's hometown, in Budapest, Hungary.

The museum is the brainchild of escapologist David Merlini and houses authentic Houdini memorabilia, props from the 2014 Houdini miniseries (shot entirely in Budapest), as well as a research center and a showroom.

The House of Houdini is located at at 11 Dísz Square, within the walls of the Buda Castle, just steps away from the Royal Palace on the Buda side of the Danube River. The museum is open Monday to Sunday from 9:30am to 7pm.

  • This is only a small museum, a short guided tour and a magician show. The show was good but I would have thought the tricks might have been a bit more on the escape side, seeings how Houdini dedicated his life to escapology . But it was a fun little shoe, magician had a little charm, which helped. The tour and exhibits was short and sweet but a few bits packed in in that time. You don't really get much time to really examine the exhibits as you are ushered through and although they say you can looks they're clearly on a schedule for the next tour/show. Although only a small place, for a private business I think this is well worth the price. Finally, the staff were pretty much the only nice locals I came across in the whole of budapest. They were very friendly and accommodating. Thanks for an awesome time.
  • Magic show was really good, could have been a little longer and did a wee bit escapology. But otherwise excellent up close magic. Museum was interesting, worth a visit if you're in Budapest.
