Embark on a boat trip beneath the city streets at Lake Cave. Accidentally discovered over 100 years ago, the cave has since become one of Tapolca's main attractions. The underground system is nearly 300 m (900 ft) long and more than two-thirds of it is covered with water. Lights illuminate the interior, so you can get a view of rock formations and the water. The admission fee includes boat fare; visitors under the age of 14 need to be accompanied by an adult. The temperature inside the cave is a constant 20 C (68 F), so be sure that you're dressed appropriately. The humidity and high calcium content are thought to be beneficial for those who suffer from respiratory conditions. This is an attraction that one must see! The detailed information during the guided tour in the visitor center is already worth it but the real fun is the boating. Highly recommended! This attraction.... more »
