Trip Planner: Europe / Ireland / Province of Munster / County Kerry / Dingle Peninsula / Dingle / Eask Tower
Climb 182 m (600 ft) above sea level to Eask Tower for breathtaking views of Dingle Harbour and the surrounding Dingle peninsula. The 10.6 m (35 ft) high stone tower was built in 1847 and provided work during the Great Famine. It features a wooden finger post that signals to sailors to let their sails down as they make their way into the blind harbor. The tower originally reached a height of 8.2 m (27 ft), however additional stone was added during renovations. Für 2 Euro pro Person darf man das Farmland überqueren um zum Tower zu wandern. Parken ist kostenlos. Der Weg über die Schafsweide ist wunderschön und lädt zum Verweilen ein. Wer sportlich genug ist (... more »For 2 euros per person you can cross the farmland to hike to the tower. Parking is free. The path over the sheep pasture is beautiful and invites you to linger. Those who are sporty enough (I wasn't and stayed with the sheep) can hike up to the tower. Takes about 1 hour back and forth when you're fast. If you are lucky, like us, you can get to know the farmer who owns the property and learn more about the area, sheep farming and agriculture. The area is absolutely idyllic and it is worth hiking or walking here, whether in part or quite high to the tower.
This was the highlight of visiting Dingle. We paid 2 Euros per person to the lovely owner of the property and walked up a large field/hill with breath taking views. I would highly recommend this!!
Really cool hike. Bring boots. It's muddy and poopy but the view from the top is amazing. It's 2 euro to pass through the farmer's land that the tower sits beyond.
