O'Connell Street, Dublin

#2 of 110 in Shopping in Dublin
Neighborhood · Hidden Gem · Shopping
Walk the city's main promenade, O'Connell Street, just as Dubliners have been doing since the 1600s. Boutiques and pubs line the thoroughfare and stay filled with visitors and locals for most of the day. Grab a seat and a pint to people-watch. Notice the architecture, a blend of historic 18th- and 19th-century facades with modern additions, such as the Dublin Spire. At the lower end of the street, you'll find a statue commemorating its namesake Daniel O'Connell, the famous nationalist.
