Portuguese Island, Inhaca

#2 of 9 in Nature in Mozambique
Portuguese Island represents an uninhabited nature reserve with beaches, abundant vegetation, and lagoons. Patches of mangroves around the island characterize the wilderness, and you'll find it secluded, often with empty bays and beaches. Swim in the warm and clear waters, rest under the shade of umbrellas, and shop for souvenirs from Inhaca vendors who come to the island. Try the local specialties, including the Tipo Tinto, which is distilled from local sugar cane.
