Volcan cerro negro, Leon

4.6
Trek up Central America's youngest volcano, Volcan cerro negro. Born in 1850, the volcano has erupted frequently over the decades since it first appeared, but tour groups run hikes up towards the crater during times of inactivity. The basalt cinder cone looks entirely at odds with the surrounding lush hillsides, giving the opportunity for dramatic photography. Make sure you bring lots of water on your hike up the volcano: it's hot, dry, and windy the farther you go on the 45-minute hike. The way down remains much simpler, whether you wish to walk or sled down the volcano. • Was who going to say that you could throw yourself a volcano with a table? Is great, the only thing that you always have to do with a company from León. Council, wear eyeglasses scarf to protect the hair, ears, nose and mouth.

  • The climb up Cerro Negro is physically challenging, and we went right up the face of the mountain, just straight up the gravel, which took about an hour. One step forward is two steps sliding back, an...  more »
  • There are 2 ways to get off the Black Hill. A do sandboarding and two run... but go down, you must first upload I recommend do it early in the morning to avoid the Sun. If boarding is best to lead the table in such a way that the viewing not clash directly with her. To avoid if you destabilize them. Wear good tennis or better boots and many water and snacks.

  • 738m // 2,388ft of pure adrenaline fall. You can carry your own stuff or someone can do it for 10$ ( it’s 2hr of journey and the equipment it’s about 20 pounds )
  • A few of us went volcano boarding a few years ago, and even if had just gone for the hike and views, it would have been spectacular. Boarding itself was great fun, but make sure you cover up as much skin as you can... and bring water!
  • Volcano boarding is of course the main reason people come and I did it too but volcano itself is much more attractive than volcano boarding. Hiking up isn't hard even with the board. On the top, the view is amazing and you can feel the heat if you touch the surface. Try to dig just a little bit. You can see steam coming out of it.
  • Just amazing. Climb is moderate. You must bring your own equipment, but nothing really hard.
  • Hike up th Volcano wasn't that hard at all. A little tough due to the first quarter being lose rocks, but after that it's a gentle slope up to the sledding point. I'd advise for people to stop as they go to take photos. Very beautiful views. The sledding down as fun but me being clumsy kept going side to side. Lots of fun and would recommend.
