Founded in 1535 by Spanish explorer Francisco Pizarro, Lima represents an interesting blend of modern attractions and preserved colonial architecture, much of it clustered in the World Heritage-listed city center.
Kick off your visit on the 18th (Sun): delve into the distant past at Huaca Pucllana, then pause for some serene contemplation at Cathedral of Lima, and then take in the architecture and atmosphere at Iglesia y Convento de San Francisco.

Mumbai (Bombay), India to Lima is an approximately 33-hour flight. Due to the time zone difference, you'll gain 10 hours traveling from Mumbai (Bombay) to Lima. When traveling from Mumbai (Bombay) in March, plan for a bit cooler days in Lima, with highs around 31°C, while nights are about the same with lows around 24°C. Finish your sightseeing early on the 19th (Mon) to allow enough time to travel to Trujillo.

Considered the country's capital of culture, Trujillo was the birthplace of the North Group, a community of artists and intellectuals that included celebrated poet Cesar Vallejo and notable novelist Ciro Alegria.
Kick off your visit on the 19th (Mon): make a trip to Plaza de Armas de Trujillo, pause for some serene contemplation at Parroquia Senor de Huaman, then delve into the distant past at Chan Chan, then delve into the distant past at La Huaca del Sol, and finally contemplate the long history of Huaca del Sol y la Luna.

Traveling by flight from Lima to Trujillo takes 2 hours. Alternatively, you can take a bus; or drive. Expect a bit cooler weather when traveling from Lima in March: highs in Trujillo hover around 28°C, while lows dip to 22°C. Wrap up your sightseeing by early afternoon on the 20th (Tue) to allow enough time to travel to Arequipa.

Expect slightly colder temperatures when traveling from Trujillo in March; daily highs in Arequipa reach 23°C and lows reach 12°C. Cap off your sightseeing on the 22nd (Thu) early enough to travel to Cusco.

Capital of the Inca Empire for three centuries, World Heritage-listed Cusco is now a major tourist destination, drawing nearly 2 million annual tourists with its well-preserved colonial architecture and proximity to Machu Picchu.
Step off the beaten path and head to Sacred Valley of the Incas and Tambomachay. There's still lots to do: get interesting insight from Tours, take a pleasant ride with a tour on horseback, delve into the distant past at Twelve Angle Stone, and browse the eclectic array of goods at Mercado Central de San Pedro.
