Muzeum Uniwersytetu Jagiellonskiego Collegium Maius
Take a tour of the university's oldest building, Muzeum Uniwersytetu Jagiellonskiego Collegium Maius, which features striking architecture and an array of furnished rooms to explore. The late-Gothic structure, which sits on a large courtyard, dates back to the 14th century and boasts an illustrious list of alumni, including the renowned Renaissance astronomer Nicolaus Copernicus. On your guided tour, you'll learn about one of Europe's oldest universities and discover interesting artifacts, including medieval scientific instruments, valuable paintings, and the 16th century Jagiellonian globe. Very educational place. Nicely kept. Lots of explanations all around. The place itself and the exposed items are unique. more »

Part of the guided tours in Krakow as it's a large part of Poland's history. If I remember correctly, most of Poland's/Krakow's universities were once institutions of this university. Interesting fact we found out passing a nearby house. If a black flag is adorned from a nearby house it means one of the professor's/senior staff had recently died. You can do a tour on your own as the guided tour will take you to other destinations. Also a prime spot for a photo.

If you are in Krakow, try and have a guided tour of the historical rooms and halls of the Jagellonic university. The guided are extremely well prepared and cover a good number of languages. The climax of the tour is obviously the Copernicus room with the astronomical instruments. Once back in the courtyard, seize the chance to take a look at the carillon.
