Mogadishu Cathedral, Mogadishu

#2 of 7 in Historic Sites in Somalia
Reminiscent of the famous Cefalu Sicilian cathedral, Mogadishu Cathedral has been a favorite religious site for both locals and tourists ever since it was built in 1928. This grand Norman Gothic building was twice demolished, in 1990 and 2008, but is in the process of being rebuilt. Hopefully, with the establishment of peace and order in Mogadishu, more and more visitors will be able to enjoy its serene atmosphere and new looks.
