Barcelona Cathedral, Barcelona

4.5
Walk the 500-year-old halls of the impressive Barcelona Cathedral. Constructed in the 13th century, the Gothic cathedral features a main hall vaulted over five aisles, with dozens of high columns. Saunter the grand hall to admire the high ceilings and ornate altar decor, or wander out to the main cloister where 13 white geese are kept as part of the cathedral’s tradition. Try to spot the famous gargoyles that line the cathedral’s roof and main facade. • Located in the vicinity of the Gothic barrio, I visited the Cathedral by buying the ticket at the entrance for 7th plus audio guide at 4 degrees. Money well spent. You are fascinated when you cross the entrance threshold. To see and admire all and with extreme calm following the audio guide. The cloister with the oches is also very nice. If there isn't much row it's also worth climbing on the rooftop terrace. Overall a place to visit.

  • Nice place to visit a pray. Centrally located with an easy underground parking within 3min walk. On Sundays at 11am they have a Catalan religious music outside with people dancing a traditional Catalan dance. Be aware that the church is closed during mass on Saturdays and Sundays. Also they have a dress code to have clothes to the knees and covered shoulders. The nice part is they provide scarfs for free (to return ;) ) The surrounding neighborhood is very pleasant with a number of great shops and restaurants. Like most places in Europe, most shops are closed Sundays.
  • A magnificent cathedral I would recommend everyone to pay their visit. The cathedral is closed to the tourists during mass hours on Sundays. Entry fee is €7 per person. Simple security check prior ticket office. Only thing I appreciate is that if you could please turn your phone on silence while taking photos. Thank you.
