Casa de Campo, Madrid

4.1
#11 of 56 in Parks in Madrid
Originally enjoyed by Fernando VI as a royal hunting ground, is now the largest green space in Madrid, with extensive bike and walking trails, a zoo and aquarium, sports arena, amusement park, and cable car. In contrast to the manicured grounds of Retiro Park, this area grows wild and allows visitors to see Madrid's ecosystem in its natural state. Scout out a picnic spot in the sun-dappled forest, walk along creeks, and read up on the local plant and animal life on the informational plaques. Watch for the bright green monk parakeets that flit among the treetops. Young visitors will love the many play areas and the amusement park. Finish off your visit with a ride on the cable car, taking in bird's-eye views of the Temple of Debod, the Parque del Oeste Rose Garden, and the Royal Palace on your way back to the city station, which is near Metro Argüelles. • It is a super large park, with a huge lake with small tips that cost you 8 and 45 min this great. Many green areas to walk and lie down. Parks very complete for all ages. Very clean, there are many parking areas nearby. Bike lane. The rather expensive snack kiosks a tin drink usually costs 1.5 e and some curly-ups from Risi 1 e. I advise taking it from home. There are plenty of ducks too to feed them.

  • You can explore the park on foot. We took the metro to Casa de Campo to the rear end. Actually, it looks more like in the countryside. A green, brown area with loose trees. The park is used by many joggers, but also cyclists and there are few fixed paths. Most of the time, you walk on well-trodden paths. From the metro station Casa de Campo you walk towards the zoo. Here everything is beautifully green. If you come by car, you will find plenty of parking spaces. Continue towards the lake, probably the most important part. In between you see rabbits again and again, which is certainly also interesting for children. On the lake, in addition to a beautiful view of the Royal Palace and the city, there are also opportunities to rest. We are further towards the cable car to get back to the city. Again it goes cross-country through loose trees and always slightly uphill. Now you get a wonderful view of the city. We actually got tickets at the top. The day before, the operation was unfortunately stopped shortly before due to bad weather. All in all, it was worth it and you had about 2-3 hours to plan and it's doable for everyone.

  • Beautiful place. We were in the ZOO. There are dolphin shows. I have a picture with a dolphin. You can see pandas too. It is the best zoological garden I saw to date. Great place for whole family. If you want to visit, plan for the whole day, the ZOO is huge. If you buy tickets online you won't have to wait in queue.
  • A wonderful part to hike, run, or bike ride for hours. I hiked to casa de Campo I was impressed with the beauty and cleanliness of the park. I couldn't believe I was in the middle of Madrid. If you have the time, go get a street bike and take a tour. Or go pack a picnic basket and go for a leisurely walk, picnic, and nap in the park.
