Built in 1913 and massively renovated in 2009, Mercado San Miguel attracts visitors with its famous tapas, though there’s much more to try here, from fine caviar to delicious chocolate snacks. This indoor market is part culinary tourist attraction, part cultural center, located in the very heart of the city. Whether you’re looking to buy something specific or just browsing the tempting stalls, it’s worth a stop for the sights and smells of dried ham, fine wine, baked goodies, and other treats offered by the vendors. The entrance is easily identifiable by its ornate iron posts. Discover how to plan a Madrid trip in just a few steps with Inspirock's itinerary builder.

Bustling food market with an amazing variety of food and drink! We had a lovely time just soaking in the atmosphere and sampling some of the finest Spanish cuisine. The crowd seemed pretty manageable on a Friday morning with ample standing room around the perimeter of the market. We'd be happy to come back again!

A feast for the eyes, mouth, and ears. This place is nothing short of a senses overload. Amazingly laid out with tapas style counters dotted along one section, fruit and sweets along another, and the occasional beer and drinks taps lining the outer seating areas. Whilst being very clean and orderly considering the popularity, obviously rent comes high and thus some of the food can be expensive.
