Catedral de Sevilla, Seville

4.7
One of the largest Gothic churches in the world, Catedral de Sevilla is the final resting place of Christopher Columbus and a World Heritage Site. The awe-inspiring cathedral is 126 m (413 ft) long and 83 m (272 ft) wide, built on the site of a former mosque. The mosque’s minaret, now serving as a converted bell tower, still stands right next to the cathedral. Climb up this emblematic tower for sweeping views of Seville, or tour the interior to see the longest nave of any cathedral in the country. Inside the main body of the cathedral, the most noticeable features are the choir lofts and the carved scenes from the life of Christ. A single craftsman, Pierre Dancart, spent his entire life completing the work on the richly detailed altarpiece, considered one of the finest in the world. • The rooftop tour was 100% worth it. Our guide was very knowledgeable and did a great job of guiding and entertaining us along the way. You get stunning views and a truly unique experience on the tour. We went in the morning and were able to experience the cathedral a little before all the crowds were able to enter, which on its own was worthwhile. You really get to appreciate just how big the cathedral is by climbing up tiny staircase after tiny staircase. Definitely recommend it for those who are able, but not a good idea if you are afraid of heights or tight spaces, or can't climb up a few hundred stairs at a time.
  • We visited the Cathedral and did the rooftop tour. It's absolutely worth your time and money to book the rooftop tour! The cathedral is incredible inside and a completely memorable experience by itself, but doing the rooftop tour, not only do you get to see the amazing architecture up close, you also get some birds-eye-views of the interior of the cathedral from a few different views. It truly feels like an insider experience! Plan on spending tons of time here as you explore every room getting a full experience of the majesty of this incredible building!
