Take a five-minute ferry from the harbor to Cijin Island, one of the city's top places to savor exotic seafood. Apart from the fine dining, the island also offers a clean beach with warm waters suitable for swimming and water sports. Visit the lighthouse built by British engineers in 1883, and check out the nearby fort, marine museum, parks, and temples. The weather can get extremely hot here, so carry extra water and don't forget the sunscreen. To find out how to plan a trip to Kaohsiung, use our trip itinerary maker.

Simply one of the best areas in Kaohsiung. Great for seafood, picture taking, surfing (at least used to be) and walking around and relaxing in general. There are also local attractions so keep an eye for those too. Definitely one of the best places in Kaohsiung with very powerful atmosphere. A must see!
A great place to have a day trip from Kaohsiung. Not too far from the city. Take a ferry to cross to Qijing island. You can use your Easy card to pay for the ferry ticket. We rented a family electric bicycle there to roam around the island. There is a specific route that we can drive through, so not every part of the island was explored.
