Home to an unsurpassed collection of Chinese artifacts and artworks, National Palace Museum preserves nearly 10,000 years of Chinese history with some items dating back to Neolithic times. Most of its 700,000 pieces--including ceramics, calligraphy, paintings, religious sculptures, jade carvings, weapons, and Qing and Ming dynasty furniture--were collected by Chinese emperors themselves. Officially founded in the Forbidden City in 1925, the museum was moved to its present building in 1965 and then expanded on several occasions due to the sheer size of the collection. Do not miss the most popular exhibits: a skillfully carved piece of jade shaped like a cabbage with two grasshoppers hiding in its leaves, a meat-shaped stone, and a bronze bell specially made for King Li of Zhou. National Palace Museum Reviews
До музея можно добраться от станции метро Улица Цзяньнань на автобусах 957, 645,620 и дальше немного пешком. Остановка автобусов рядом со станцией. Bus stops near the station. And on foot it would not be very far away, only interferes with a long road tunnel. Not to say that I, not a Chinese --), very impressed the museum, but for understanding the formation of the statehood of the Republic of China and to study the history of China and Taiwan, I advise you to visit this museum. Lots of interesting artifacts and exhibits. Interesting story of the origin here is the muse ...
I partook of both the 1000 & 1500h tours as I was told they would not be identical. To my delight about 50% was new to me on the second occasion. The headsets are a waste of time if your group is smal... more »
Better conservation work than in most European museums. Beautifully exhibited but it gets a lot of visitors so you might have to do it out of order to get ahead of the big crowds. It's 3 floors with around 10 exhibits per floor (give or take) so give your visit a good 3-4 hours. You can get an audio guide but all the captions in the Exhibits are in Chinese and English
Excellent exhibition. But little bit noisy due to too many tourist. After 16:30, Taiwan local people can enjoy free entrance. Need ID
