Wat Chedi Luang Worawihan, Chiang Mai

Admire the traditional design and reverential atmosphere at Wat Chedi Luang Worawihan, a Buddhist temple located in Chiang Mai's historical center. King Saen Muang Ma initiated construction in the 14th century, intending to bury his father's ashes here. The project wasn't completed until the mid 15th century, and since then the temple has been rebuilt, refurbished, and redesigned on numerous occasions. Originally three separate temple areas, the sites were joined up to create the place of worship you see today, making it an area of impressive scale as well as architecture. Visit the grounds to discover its interesting and volatile history; look for the replica of the famous Emerald Buddha once housed here and the city pillar surrounded by three dipterocarp trees. • Worth a visit, it's beautiful! Pay 40 bath to come in, but it's worth it! Perhaps one of the most beautiful of the city centre.

  • What2Do in Chiang Mai - Prove you have been to Chiang Mai Well, 1. Of course, this is one of the things must do when you are in CM. The temple is about 600 years old! 2. Discover your zodiac animal and perform a small donation. 3. Go in the morning or during evening to get best photo shots. 4. Count how many elephant statue at this wat. I wonder is the number signify something? 5. Spend quality times and be awed by the architecture.
  • - 80bath Entrance - Well it's a "OK" temple (it's not going to blow you away) the old ruins behind the temple is nice you can walk around a bit the small temple are interesting but don't expect to much translations or to learn some background. Worth visiting? Not sure price is low so Yea why not stop by check it out but don't make it as a "must see thing"
  • Beautiful architecture and interior. Unlike many of the other wats in the surrounding provinces, this one is in wood and is next to a temple ruin. No entry to the temple ruin. You can only walk around it. Tourist entry fee is 40baht as other reviewers pointed out; free for locals.
  • Impressive temple. The new one in front and the old one behind. Nice place but they need to clean the old one coz the little tree growing up on the site. The entrance fee is 40 Bath for adult and 20 Bath for kid
  • Amazing temple and ruin that sits adjacent to each other. The ruin looks strangely out of place but it looks beautiful. You also have the opportunity to have a chat with some monks. Entrance fee is 40 baht. Also note, as you enter there's a small little temple next to the main one where entry is restricted to men only.
