Budapest

— 8 nights

Pearl of the Danube

You might consider the city of Budapest, divided by the Danube River into two distinctive cities--Buda and Pest--to be essentially one large World Heritage Site.
Your day by day itinerary now includes Széchenyi Thermal Bath, Legenda, Central Market Hall, and other attractions you added. You'll explore the less-touristy side of things at Hospital in the Rock Nuclear Bunker Museum and Nagyvillam Ski Slope. Get some historical perspective at Fisherman's Bastion and St. Stephen's Basilica (Szent Istvan Bazilika). There's lots more to do: contemplate the long history of Matthias Church, take in the exciting artwork at Hungarian National Gallery (Magyar Nemzeti Galeria), contemplate in the serene atmosphere at Dohány Street Synagogue, and examine the collection at House of Terror Museum.

To see traveler tips and other tourist information, you can read our Budapest trip itinerary site.

If you are flying in from United Kingdom, the closest major aiport is Budapest Liszt Ferenc International Airport. Expect a daytime high around 5°C in December, and nighttime lows around -1°C. Wrap up your sightseeing on the 3rd (Thu) to allow time to drive to Visegrad.
