Nestled between the sea and the mountains, Hualien boasts a number of attractions, both natural and manmade.
Start off your visit on the 12th (Thu): kick back and relax at Chishingtan Scenic Area and then trek along Taroko Gorge. Get ready for a full day of sightseeing on the next day: head outdoors with Yanzihkou Trail (Swallow Grotto) and then explore the striking landscape at Ch'ing-shui Cliff.

Singapore, Singapore to Hualien is an approximately 11- hour combination of flight and train. You can also do a combination of flight, bus, and train; or fly. Wrap up your sightseeing on the 13th (Fri) to allow time to take a train to New Taipei.

Xinbei, also known as New Taipei City, stands as a newly founded part of the wider Taipei metropolitan area, stretching up from the capital to the island's northern coast.
Step out of New Taipei to go to Shilin and see National Palace Museum, which is approximately 42 minutes away. There's much more to do: go for a walk through Chiufen (Jiufen Old Street), make a trip to National Dr. Sun Yat-sen Memorial Hall, take in the dramatic natural features at YehLiu Geopark, and contemplate in the serene atmosphere at Lungshan Temple.

Getting from Hualien to New Taipei by train takes about 3 hours. Other options: drive; or do a combination of bus and train. In November, daytime highs in New Taipei are 29°C, while nighttime lows are 22°C. Finish your sightseeing early on the 16th (Mon) to allow enough time to drive to Nantou.

Nantou provides good access to the cultural and natural sites of the surrounding county of the same name.
Spend the 19th (Thu) exploring nature at Yushan National Park. There's still lots to do: contemplate the waterfront views at Sun Moon Lake, relax in the rural setting at Sun Moon Lake Toushehuo Basin Recreation Farm, take in the awesome beauty at Hehuan Mountain (Hehuanshan), and explore the wealth of natural beauty at Wenwumiaohoushan Park.

Traveling by car from New Taipei to Nantou takes 2 hours. Alternatively, you can take a train; or take a bus. November in Nantou sees daily highs of 30°C and lows of 20°C at night. Finish up your sightseeing early on the 19th (Thu) so you can travel to Kaohsiung.

A small trading town in the 17th century, Kaohsiung now stands as a sprawling metropolis, its harbor representing the largest on the island.
Get out of town with these interesting Kaohsiung side-trips: Chihkan Tower (Fort Provintia) (in West Central District), Chimei Museum (in Rende) and Xiao Liu Qiu (in Liuqiu). There's much more to do: view the masterpieces at The Pier-2 Art Centre, make a trip to The Dome of Light, head outdoors with Ai He (Love River), and explore the galleries of Fo Guang Shan Buddha Museum.
