The site of the continent's first Spanish colony, Cartagena retains much of its colonial flavor thanks to a World Heritage-listed old town, encircled by old walls and protected by imposing fortresses.
Your inner history buff will appreciate Castillo de San Felipe de Barajas and Plaza Santo Domingo. Get some cultural insight at Walled City of Cartagena and Volcan de Lodo El Totumo (Mud Volcano). Step out of Cartagena with an excursion to Playa Blanca in Isla Baru--about 1h 05 min away. And it doesn't end there: take in the architecture and atmosphere at Sanctuary of Saint Peter Claver, don't miss a visit to La Popa Monastery, get engrossed in the history at Museo del Oro Zenu, and admire the landmark architecture of Las Bovedas.

Nestled between rising hills in a narrow valley, Medellin serves as an energetic melting pot of people from all socio-economic classes.
On the 16th (Thu), tour the pleasant surroundings at 2000m Descent and more, get a new perspective on things with Boat Tours & Water Sports, and then take in the architecture and atmosphere at Templo Parroquial Jesus Nazareno.
