Founded in 1535 by Spanish explorer Francisco Pizarro, Lima represents an interesting blend of modern attractions and preserved colonial architecture, much of it clustered in the World Heritage-listed city center.
Huaca Pucllana and Cathedral of Lima are good opportunities to explore the local culture. Take a break from Lima with a short trip to El Silencio in Punta Hermosa, about 1h 15 min away. There's lots more to do: identify plant and animal life at Nor Yauyos-Cochas Landscape Reserve, pause for some serene contemplation at Iglesia y Convento de San Francisco, make a trip to Miraflores, and ponder the design of Plaza de Armas (Plaza Mayor).

Hamburg, Germany to Lima is an approximately 19-hour flight. The time zone changes from Central European Time to Peru Time, which is usually a -6 hour difference. Expect a bit warmer evenings in Lima when traveling from Hamburg in June, with lows around 20°C. Cap off your sightseeing on the 23rd (Sat) early enough to travel to Huanchaco.
