The site of the continent's first Spanish colony, Cartagena retains much of its colonial flavor thanks to a World Heritage-listed old town, encircled by old walls and protected by imposing fortresses.
On the 8th (Sat), make a trip to Plaza de La Trinidad, then step into the grandiose world of Castillo de San Felipe de Barajas, then contemplate the long history of Walled City of Cartagena, and finally look for gifts at El Centro Artesano.
