The site of the continent's first Spanish colony, Cartagena retains much of its colonial flavor thanks to a World Heritage-listed old town, encircled by old walls and protected by imposing fortresses.
Explore hidden gems such as NH Galeria and Arte Getsemani. Shop till you drop at Dantas Store and Anticuario El Arcon. When in Cartagena, make a side trip to see Aviario Nacional de Colombia in Isla Baru, approximately 50 minutes away.
