The notable peaks that surround Skardu may be rugged, daunting, and otherworldly, but the imposing reputation of its most famous natural attractions belies the more fertile, diverse, and homely aspects of the town.
Take a break from the city and head to Deosai National Park and Shigar Valley. Take a break from Skardu with a short trip to Amburiq Mosque in Shigar, about 50 minutes away. There's still lots to do: explore the activities along Upper Kachura Lake, make a trip to Kharphocho Fort, and admire nature's extreme beauty at Katpana Desert (Cold Desert).
