Protected from the Atlantic by sand spits and barrier islands, Lagos quickly grew into a mega city due to its location, and currently operates one of the continent's largest and busiest ports.
Get some cultural insight at Badagry Slave Museum and Black History Museum and Red Door Art Gallery. Step out of Lagos to go to Lekki and see The Henna Place, which is approximately 36 minutes away. There's still lots to do: see the interesting displays at Kalakuta Republic Museum, enjoy the sand and surf at Elegushi Beach, look for all kinds of wild species at Lekki Conservation Centre, and browse the eclectic array of goods at Lekki Market.

Houston, USA to Lagos is an approximately 22-hour flight. You can also fly. Due to the time zone difference, you'll lose 7 hours traveling from Houston to Lagos.
