Colombia's heart and soul, Bogota has earned the nickname "Athens of South America" thanks to its abundance of universities, libraries, and lower-level schools.
Kick off your visit on the 18th (Wed): see the interesting displays at Gold Museum (Museo del Oro) and then explore the world behind art at Museo Botero del Banco de la Republica. Here are some ideas for day two: take your sightseeing to a higher altitude at Monserrate, then savor the flavors at Food & Drink, and then browse for treasures at El Cuchitril Second Hand Shop.

Medellin to Bogota is an approximately 1.5- hour flight. You can also do a combination of shuttle and flight; or drive. Expect slightly colder temperatures when traveling from Medellin in March; daily highs in Bogota reach 23°C and lows reach 10°C. Cap off your sightseeing on the 19th (Thu) early enough to travel to San Andres Island.

Start off your visit on the 20th (Fri): stroll through Playa Charquitos, identify plant and animal life at La Piscinita, then take in the dramatic natural features at Hoyo Soplador, and finally kick back and relax at Playa de San Luis.
