Must see · Scenic Walking Area · Architectural Building
Built sometime in the 15th century, Baddesley Clinton is a moated manor house noted for its historical importance and Elizabethan Tudor architecture. The manor contains paintings of the Ferrer lineage, which has made the house its home for over 500 years. After the Protestant Reformation in England, the Ferrer family remained Roman Catholic, and throughout the house you can explore the secret passages they built to conceal and protect Catholic priests. A beautiful estate surrounds the manor house. You can explore the garden and take a walk on trails that wind through 200-year-old oaks. • Fabulous day out. The staff in the house were most informative. Rather disappointed with lunch in restaurant. I observed the staff on several occasions serving tuna from a bowl behind the salad bowls, tuna bits fell into the salad, most off putting for a vegan who was thinking of ordering the salad, hence I didn't. The vegetarian food needs to be positioned away from the meat dishes as much as possible. I hope to visit again very soon and hope some simple changes have occurred. Or do I take sandwiches? The walk around the grounds was beautiful the autumn colours are stunning. Well worth a visit.
  • Go back in time in this historic building. Great walks outside for children lakes ponds and a moat, lots of carp and fish which were bread for eating and a great allotment. You can also take your dog on the grounds (but not in the house). A superb day out.
