  • The Borough Market is a place we always enjoy spending a bit of time, seeing what the vendors have to offer, trying out some of the French cheeses, locally produced sausages and breads, Turkish Baklava, fresh fruits, juices, organic vegetables or whatever takes our fancy... During summer visits, we find it best to stop by during the late morning before the lunch crowd arrives. At this time, the stalls and various vendors are setup and ready to go but the crowds are not too bad. Plus, you get early picks on the foods, which is nice! Further, during and after lunch, its busier then we like, especially if you are wanting to take pictures. We very much enjoy buying a few bits of food and drinks at the Borough Market and proceeding over to the River Thames riverside area to find a place to enjoy them while taking in the views. During the summer when the weather is better, this is a very enjoyable way to have a lunch in this part of the city. In addition to admiring (and trying) the foods, make sure to have a look at the building structure as well. The covered market area makes good use of green coloured cast iron capitals, columns, tracery and roof support that adds a nice architectural dimension to a visit to the Borough Markets. In the end, this is a very good food market that can be easily visited if you plan to spend time around in the Southwark area of London.
  • I have to get some fruits and vegs when I am here. Fresh, cheap and 'cheery'. You won't know which food stall to choose from so eventually I went for the modern Thai place by the market with it's art deco interiors and food that tastes like it's just been nicely braised in the wok. Usually crowded but a little more spacious than some markets, it's easy to buy more fruits than needed. The nearest tube stations are Borough and London Bridge. It opens: Thursdays (11 am - 5pm) Fridays (12pm - 6pm) Saturdays (9am - 4pm) One of the best markets to browse around. For a foodie experience it should be at the top of your list of places to go.
  • You could expect a lot of people there as it is a famous tourist spots. There are different type of food stalls selling cuisine from all over the world. There are also some booths selling breads, cakes, tableware and other usual wet market produce. The market is neat and tidy, when you consider the number of people visiting this place every day. There is drinking water fountain in the market. Remember to bring your own bottle to refill.
  • Without a doubt, my favourite place in London. For many years I have gone to the market, and one of our Christmas rituals is to go there a few days before Christmas and purchase our Christmas cheeseboard- it normally ends up costing more than the turkey does! The majority of the stall holders are lovely- so friendly, open and welcoming. You will find a vast array of wonderful fresh produce, and plenty of space to sit down to eat it. Warning though- Saturday is PACKED!
  • I absolutely loved it here! What an experience! So many different smells. The stalls were so varied and interesting and everything was so fresh and enticing. Lots of food stalls from around the world and lots of fresh ingredients to make your own culinary masterpieces!
