Coca-Cola London Eye, London

4.2
Few, if any, Ferris wheels offer the kind of views that Coca-Cola London Eye does. At a height of 135 m (443 ft), this is the tallest Ferris wheel in Europe and one of the tallest in the world. Ever since its completion in 1999, the Eye has provided one of the highest vantage points in London. On a clear day, you can see across London, with the Thames River, Big Ben, and Parliament sitting directly below you. Each of the 32 sealed, air-conditioned ovoid capsule can hold up to 25 passengers, though you can also reserve an entire capsule for yourself and your companions for an extra fee. Purchase your tickets online to save on the price of admission and to avoid waiting in line when you arrive. Try not to book too far ahead, though, because there's no guaranteeing the sun will shine on your chosen date. • Excellent half price tickets for the London Eye through O2 priority... Excellent views off the city.  more »
  • Very nice atmosphere in that area. Very easy to buy tickets and the price is reasonable. The London eye staff are friendly, it was a nice experience to see London from the top.  more »

  • Wow. Wow. Wow. I would give unlimited stars if I could! I booked fast track for an evening view of London, and I was not disappointed. While fast track did cost more, me and my boyfriend were straight past the long line, searched and into a pod within six minutes of arriving. Well worth the extra money in my opinion. But the views? Simply breathtaking. Seriously, the pictures and videos don't do justice. It's so peaceful being that high up, yet you see the city still bustling below. The pod has so many clear windows for excellent photo opportunities and is spacious enough for many people inside without feeling claustrophobic. The pace was just right and not once did I feel uncomfortable. I've seen people saying this is a "tourist trap", but I couldn't disagree more. As a Brit myself, I can't recommend you do this attraction enough and hopefully it will shine a light onto why I'm raving about it so much. A truly unforgettable, spectacular experience.
  • The London eye is an iconic landmark on the Thames and at the top you can see from miles around. I went to London with my girlfriend and we were both very excited about going to the eye. The line for tickets was not very long and the ticket agent was very helpful in explaining the type of packages you can purchase for other attractions located nearby. We ended up just getting ticket to the eye and no extra attractions. We went just as the eye opened, so there was almost no line for us to get on. I would advise to visit earlier rather than later as the line does get very long later in the day. The ride does not stop for you to get on, so the staff help you get on at an appropriate time. Overall the whole ride lasts around 25 minutes from when you get on to when you get off. I would recommend taking many photos facing the river as there are many other landmarks like Big Ben, parliament and Buckingham Palace in that direction. The Shard is very visible from the opposite direction of the river. The eye also takes a photo of you when the ride is almost over, which you can purchase later. The virtual eye tour is great as well and would recommend seeing it. Overall this is a must see if you are visiting London.
