Warwick Castle, Warwick

3.6
In a country full of outstanding medieval fortresses, Warwick Castle is one of the most magnificent. Originally built by William the Conqueror in 1068, the castle today features imposing ramparts and towers looming over manicured green lawns and the Avon River. It also hosts a lively scene of historical interpreters reenacting medieval life. Check out the trebuchet, a giant catapult that interpreters have shot some 6,500 times since its introduction in 2005. Head down to the castle dungeon to meet a torturer, a judge, and the castle cook. Try to catch a free tour to learn about the defensive purposes of some of the castle's most prominent features. Exhibits and performances change constantly, so check the schedule before you visit. If you visit on a Saturday, consider staying into the evening for the extravagant Kingmaker's Medieval Banquet in the great hall. • The castle is great. The dungeon experience isn't very good and not worth the price. We found the actors were more rude and obnoxious rather than scary and making the experience fun. This is obviously...  more »

  • Clean grounds with lots to see. Friendly staff. Watched bird show twice, it was so interesting. Archer was good, but needed a microphone. Lots of young kids, who were probably too young to fully enjoy the shows and history. Went on the interactive dungeon tour, which was entertaining. Lots of steps of you want to go up the towers. Definitely gave my legs a workout.
  • Must see and do! Laid back theme park. You can easily spend a day here. Children will definitely enjoy. Touch of history and attend the tours that they have every 1/2 to 1 hour. Bird of Prey show was a stand out.
  • We got an upgrade from a knights lodge to a kings lodge. We had a lovely view of the river. The accommodation was to a very high standard. Plenty of tea and coffee supplied plus a jug of milk offered and supplied. Breakfast was included with enough options for veggies. Staff were very helpful. Entrance to Warwick Castle is via a coded gate. We had a lovely time and would want to stay for longer next time as this is a great base to explore from.
  • Great fun for the family. Plenty of shows - the birds of prey show is fantastic - open spaces for the kids and local lodging inside the castle grounds if you want to spend the night. Great animation personnel, who constantly interact with visiting children and parents. The castle is in excellent condition - worth a visit! Food options could be better, though, so recommend bringing your own packed lunch.
  • Had a absolutely brilliant day with the Mrs. Second visit and it seemed like the first the thrill the joy and the history behind this castle is amazing. There are some new attractions that are worth a visit like the horrible histories maze however it gets 4 stars because most the attractions we wanted to visit was closed due to make maintanance which was not listed on their website when we booked the tickets.
