One of the best museums to visit in North America, I must say. I personally loved the Akeley exhibit. There you'll find taxidermy African Animals. The animals are beautifully displayed and look very l...  more »

A great Natural History museum! I'm from the DC area, so paying for a museum felt weird, and it was definitely expensive, but wow! What a great museum! We spent most of our time in the fossils. I've never seen such an awesome display! There was a phenomenal number and variety of fossils, and everybody enjoyed them. There was a mummy exhibit on when we toured, and it was both well done and very respectful to the mummies. The taxidermist animals we're great too, very well done, and I really enjoyed the efforts to make the displays as lifelike as possible. Sadly we weren't able to get to much more (young children get tired), but I would love to visit again in the future. A wonderful museum!

It's a good place to go if you enjoy learning. You could easily spend 2 or 3 hours inside. There're cafeterias inside and many places to sit down and have a rest. Suggested ticket is $22 but if you are interested interested in the temporary expositions you can pay less. A very appealing place to go.

Amazing and jaw dropping! Wonderful collection! It seemed bigger than the Smithsonian version in Washington, DC, but I could not verify this. But I personally liked this more than the DC version. This is a MUST for every NY tourist. And please don't be cheap! Just because it is a pay-any-amount museum doesn't mean you should pay less! The value and amount of exhibits inside are worth way more than the USD22 admission fee.

It is overpriced, dirty and run-down. It's hard to navigate, with a lot of backtracking from dead-ends and walking up and down stairs (elevators take forever). Some exhibits and areas were closed down. A lot of exhibits were lame (stuffed birds behind glass, for example). A lot of staff incompetent and rude. I would go here only if I had run out of things to do in NYC. Also, don't let them fool you on the ticket price. They advertise $22, but it is $35 if you want access to the "special exhibitions." If you want to go to a museum in NYC, I would go to The Metropolitan Museum of Art. The Met is truly world class and has a "wow" factor to it. Very large collection, excellent pieces. Almost at the level of the Vatican in Rome (which is my favorite), but, unlike the Vatican, not as crowded and tickets are at a voluntary, suggested donation price.

Amazing place! Totally worth see it! There are so many things that you have to have all day to see everything. And their app is also great thing! It leads you to exhibition you want to see. Perfect place!

Where to stay in New York City

The first step to finding accommodations in New York City is finding the right neighborhood. Manhattan, where most visitors end up, offers some of the most expensive rooms in the world, though there are lower-budget options, such as hostels with shared restrooms. Reduce your costs by basing yourself in one of the outer boroughs, but beware of low-end motels where you may end up sharing the premises with hourly customers. Alternatively, stay along the New Jersey shore, offering all the major chain hotels at considerably lower prices than their Manhattan equivalents.
