The platform hovers 360 m (1,181 ft) above the ground, protruding 12 m (39 ft) from the mountainside into the abyss. Try to go on a clear day, but not in the middle of the day when the sun is almost blinding. The walk to the top is quite challenging, so it's best to take the cable car up to the viewing platform and then walk back down. Prepare for the crowds. The line trip up is enjoyable and comfprtable and the view from here is amazing. Deffinitely worth it, you can see the lake, the village and the surrounding mountains.

Such a amazing place! The perfect town to visit in winter. If you are lucky you can enjoy a sunny day after some snowing days, I thinks that it is the perfect way to visit Hallstatt. Is quite far away from Vienna, you have to take 2 trains and 2 buses, but the experience is totally worth. 8 hours are enough to visit the town. I also recommend to go up to the mountain with the funicular (in winter is not allowed to climb by the walk side). On top of the mountain there is an amazing view point and a restaurant. I hadn't enough time to do the mine salt attraction. I am totally in love with this town. If you really like lakes, mountains and beautiful cities, you have to visit Hallstatt

Must come here. It is an UNESCO protected viewpoint. Extreme beauty. You can take the stairs or you can take gondola to go uphill. For winter season, the gondola is recommended. You can buy a ticket for gondola and viewpoint alone or you can combine it with an entrance ticket to the guided tour in salt mine. There is a nice restaurant here as well.
