Weingut Feiler-Artinger, Rust

I happened to visit because it was one of the only wineries open and I hadn’t made tasting reservations elsewhere (would generally recommend making reservations in Rust; some require it). I was greeted by Kurt (the owner) who led me through a tasting of his white, red, and sweet wines, all of which were very delicious. He is making wine from a lot of Austrian grapes not well-known in the US and he does so with great skill. He was kind enough to spend over an hour with me and talk about his winemaking philosophy and techniques, which I thoroughly enjoyed as someone passionate about wine. Highly recommend visiting - he has a ton of variety so you will find something you love! Also a special thanks to Kurt for crafting a handle for the case of wine I brought back to the US!

Feiler-Artinger’s wines, especially their sweet wines are deservedly world renowned. What makes the visit, however, are the friendly and enthusiastic owners.
