Explore the world of music at Haus der Musik Wien--an interactive discovery museum in the heart of Vienna's first district. Awarded with the Austrian Museum Prize for its innovative design, the museum occupies the former palace of Archduke Charles. Opened in 2000, this citadel of music was also the residence of Otto Nicolai, the composer of the opera "The Merry Wives of Windsor" and founder of the Vienna Philharmonic. Engage in a range of high-tech, interactive, and multimedia presentations. See how the approach to music has changed from the earliest human use of instruments to the music of the present day. A really cool museum for a person who's never interested in going to museums like me. It's very very interactive, which makes it so much more exciting for the visitors. Entrance ticket for federal volunteer is 12€/person. It took me about 2 hours to see almost everything. So it might be worth it to get the Night ticket for 8€ (from 8pm-10pm) if you're efficient :D

Very cool and interactive house of music. All kinds of activities and instructions to get your hands on and try out. A big session of legendary musicians to learn about. My personal favorite part is the interactive orchestra conductor, it's where I learned that being a conductor is much harder than it looks! Highly recommend for anyone who is in the area, whether you are into music or not, you will really enjoy this musical museum.
