Wiener Riesenrad, a landmark on the Vienna skyline, is one of the earliest Ferris wheels ever built. The nearly 65 m (212 ft) tall Ferris wheel opened in 1897 in celebration of the Golden Jubilee of Emperor Franz Josef I. Enter one of the eight original wooden cabins that form the Wheel of History. The tour takes you through 2,000 years of the history of the capital city. Audio impressions and an enormous diorama tell the stories of the Prater, which brings a longstanding tradition back to life. • Off-season in early December there was no queue, so we were able to board very quickly. Iconic ride for those who remember "The Third Man", and great views of the city.

  • I took my family to Prater and it was very enjoyable. Prater had all kinds of amusements and my children enjoyed it. The Viennese Giant Ferris Wheel was widely known among tourists and the view you get from it, is beautiful. However, the tickets were a bit expensive, especially for having a family. Last but not least, I enjoyed the trip and would recommend it to whom would like to have fun.
  • Amazing experience!! It's a must for a 1st visit to Vienna for sure. The park was full of people but the wait for the wheel wasn't that long. Staff were nice. The view is unbeatable. Definitely coming back again whenever in Vienna. (You can apparently go on a glass platform without an actual box!! Looks cool)
