Dive into the fun and educational displays at Bermuda Underwater Exploration Institute. Opened in 1997, the museum presents the myths and facts of the deep sea and Bermuda’s historic shipwrecks through a combination of interactive displays and intriguing artefacts. Discover lost underwater riches in the “Treasure Room,” a vast collection of jewels, gold, and artifacts retrieved from the depths by Bermuda’s legendary scuba diver, Teddy Tucker. The star exhibit here is the mesmerising shell collection, an enchanting array of over 1,200 shells owned and collected by Jack Lightbourn. It is though to be the largest private collection of shells in the world. • Loved this aquarium and zoo. It is a bit more unique than other zoos and we only had an hour. I would love to have had more time. The presentation of the animals is well done.

  • This is a great spot to learn about underwater exploration, with exhibits focused on shells, wrecks, treasure, etc. Our family of four (2 adults, and 2 kids under 10) all enjoyed our time at BUEI...

  • Wonderful place to visit for the entire family. Lots of interesting information about the island but also about climate change and the environment. Super cool unique and eco friendly toys in the store. A place will definitely come back to next time we visit Bermuda.
  • Very interesting and interactive. Also ♿ very accessible. Don't trust Google telling you that it's an 18 minute walk from the Hamilton ferry though. Easily 30-35 minutes. Also sidewalks are not the best for wheelchair access. A taxi would have been better.
