Create an itinerary including Lac Bay
Relax or get sporty at Lac Bay, a scenic beach on the banks of a large lagoon. Laze around on the sun loungers, snacking on local seafood dishes served in the well-positioned bar and restaurant. Located in a national park, the bay offers good access to see three globally endangered species: queen conches, green turtles, and mangrove trees. To take things up a gear, consider trying a range of water sports on the lagoon, including windsurfing and kayaking. Make Lac Bay a centerpiece of your Kralendijk vacation itinerary, and find what else is worth visiting using our Kralendijk trip tool.

  • It is a nice coastal drive to Lac Bay. There are shallow waters and a lot of wind. Good for windsurfing.

  • Just a short drive from Kralendijk lies Lac Bay, a protected inlet that embodies the beauty of the Caribbean. The shallows here extend for close to a quarter mile, and the bottom is flat and sandy...

  • No restrooms! Yup. BUT the local shack sells beer and soda. No foods. The beach has soft sand but is so shallow that you have to walk quite a ways into the water to really swim or snorkel. I would not make a special trip to swim here. Nope. There is a small area to park cars, busses and bikes.
  • 5 for wind surfing but 3 for swimming, 4 if you just want to sit on the sand. Not that the water is not warm, or shallow, or beautiful and clear, but that swimming space is restricted. There are barriers and signs in the water just a few meters out saying no swimming because of the wind surfers, and there are weeds there anyway. Not much in the way of facilities. There are restaurants there, but sadly they close early. The mangroves on the other side might be fun to see, but they are deceptively far away.
