On a visit to Parc national de l'Ile-Bonaventure-et-du-Rocher-Perce, a national park brimming with birdlife, hike along trails to discover North America's largest colony of gannets. Once inhabited by humans, this small island in the Gulf of St. Lawrence has become home to over 200,000 birds, of which Northern gannets number 120,000. Explore the four different trails on offer, while taking in the sweeping views. If you follow the Le Chemin du Roy trail, keep an eye out for seals swimming in the bays below. Stop at the various viewpoints along the way, some of which offer views of one of the largest natural arches in the world. Walk the trails on your own, or opt for a more historical tour of the island with a park warden. With just one cafe on the island, you may want to pack a picnic to avoid an overpriced lunch stop. A visit to Parc national de l'Ile-Bonaventure-et-du-Rocher-Perce represents just the start of the adventure when you use our Perce day trip site to plot your vacation.
